Review of Diamond

Title: Diamond
Author: Jacqueline Wilson

Ladies and gentlemen!
Tanglefield's travelling circus is proud to present the incredible, the extraordinary, the magical, Diamond, the acrobatic child wonder!

Pull back the curtain, enter the big top and discover her amazing story of heartbreak, danger, courage and friendship!

Starring acquaintances old and new...
Madame Adeline, Beppo the Clown, Elijah the Elephant, The Silver Boys, Mr Marvel and his Monkeys.

With a very special guest: Hetty Feather, performing as the one and only Emerald Star.

My Review:

I love reading Jacqueline Wilson's books, they're always easy reads. The books is also signed by Jacqueline herself as I went (along with some people from my school) to see her get the lifetime achievement award.

I read the Hetty Feather series and really liked it - I like the historical feel to them as I'm quite into history. The book is a spin off of the Hetty Feather series as it focuses on Diamond; a character we first meet in Emerald Star.

The book tells the story of Diamond. She is the last child of the family and is a disappointment. Her mother desperately wanted to have 4 boys to complete the gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. However she ended up with 3 boys (Matthew, Mark and Luke) and 2 girls (Mary-Martha and Diamond). Her mother tries for another little boy but doesn't make it through the birth. Her father then blames her for all the families problems. He then sells to a stranger for 5 guineas.

Diamond is taken away to live at the circus. She was always good at gymnastics/acrobatics but now she is forced to train every day and to learn new tricks. Then Hetty joins the circus and instantly Diamond and her bond. I love Hetty as a character, she's incredibly fiery and makes reading more enjoyable.

The book doesn't conclude fully and makes it clear that a sequel is on the cards...

Overall, I would recommend this book if you are a Wilson fan or you fancy a easy, summer read!

Review of All the Truth that's in Me

Title: All the Truth that's in Me
Author: Julie Berry

Four years ago, Judith and her best friend disappeared from their small town of Roswell Station. Two years ago, only Judith returned, permanently mutilated, reviled and ignored by those who were once her friends and family. Unable to speak, Judith lives like a ghost in her own home, silently pouring out her thoughts to the boy who’s owned her heart as long as she can remember—even if he doesn’t know it—her childhood friend, Lucas. But when Roswell Station is attacked, long-buried secrets come to light, and Judith is forced to choose: continue to live in silence, or recover her voice, even if it means changing her world, and the lives around her, forever. This startlingly original novel will shock and disturb you; it will fill you with Judith’s passion and longing; and its mysteries will keep you feverishly turning the pages until the very last.

My Review:

The last Carnegie book. I hated this book!

I couldn't get into it at ALL! For me, it was just pages of waffle that made absolutely no sense to me.

I found that there was no story to it and the plot kept jumping every paragraph.

Sorry for a short review, but I didn't read past 50 pages, I really didn't like this book!

Would not recommend AT ALL! Avoid!
